Eligible developers must have previously launched a game on various platforms and adhere to specific criteria. Google Play Relaunches Indie Games Fund for Latin America

Google Play has recently announced the relaunch of its Indie Games Fund, offering $2 million in funding to independent developers in Latin America. The application window opens from August 14th to September 13th, 2024, with a priority given to applications submitted by August 30th, 2024.

Up to 10 Studios to Benefit

Aiming to support 10 selected studios with funding ranging between $150,000 and $200,000, the fund also provides hands-on support to assist in shaping their ideas and fostering business growth. Eligible developers must have previously released a game on any platform, including mobile, PC, or console, to qualify for this opportunity. The selected studios will receive financial investment without any loss of equity to enable them to concentrate on their development.

Criteria and Guidelines

In addition to the funding, certain criteria must be met. A stipulation is that a part of the funding should be allocated towards porting the game to Android and making it accessible on the Google Play Store, with inclusion on Google Play Pass. Applicants must be small indie game developers with a team of not more than 50 employees.

Google Play encourages developers of all types of games, whether premium or free-to-play, to apply. However, all selected games must be compatible with Google Play Pass services, providing subscribers with unlocked content.

If you are an indie game developer from Latin America who meets the requirements outlined, you can proceed to apply on the official website for consideration.
