How to Send Ctrl+Alt+Del to a Remote Desktop

When you are connected to a remote computer, pressing the CTRL+ALT+DEL combination of keys causes the command to be executed locally on your computer. If you want to execute this command on the remote computer, you have to use a slightly modified version of this control that Microsoft Corp. set up for this type of situation.

Step 1

Start the Remote Desktop program by clicking on “Start,” clicking “Run,” typing “mstsc” and clicking “OK.”

Step 2

Type in the IP address or name of the remote computer in the “Remote Desktop” window and hit “Enter.”

Step 3

Type in your user name and password and hit “Enter” to connect to the remote computer.

Step 4

Press the “CTRL,” “ALT” and “END” keys at the same time while you are viewing the Remote Desktop window. This command executes the traditional CTRL+ALT+DEL command on the remote computer instead of on your local computer.
