Whether you’re working with an out of tune instrument or want to add that signature auto-tuned sound to a track, Antares Auto-Tune can help. Auto-Tune is a plugin compatible with almost any digital audio workstation that accepts VST and Direct-X plugins, including Cool Edit Pro.
Step 1
Close Cool Edit Pro if it is already running on your computer.
Step 2
Download and install the Antares Auto-Tune plugin on your computer. When you install the plugin, you may be prompted to select which application you want to install it for. Select Cool Edit Pro, if prompted.
Step 3
Launch Cool Edit Pro and open the project containing the track you want to use Auto-Tune with.
Step 4
Click the track you want to tune, select “Transform” on the main menu, select “Time/Pitch” and then select “Antares Auto-Tune” to launch the Auto-Tune control panel and begin configuring your settings. See the Tips section for advice on what to do if you don’t see Auto-Tune listed on the Transform menu.
Step 5
Click “Scale” and select the scale played by the instrument on the track. If the instrument plays in multiple scales, select “Chromatic.”
Step 6
Click “Key” to select the key in which the track is played.
Step 7
Adjust the “Scale Detune,” “Retune” and “Tracking” knobs to fine-tune the effect. Avoid tweaking the Scale Detune setting, unless you know for certain your instruments were not tuned using the standard A=440Hz pitch. Adjust the Retune setting up and down to control how fast Auto-Tune tunes a note. Tracking dictates how much variation Auto-Tune permits in an incoming waveform.
